  1.      As I (figuratively) kneel here at my keyboards, I see a
  2. blank  wall  before  me.   That  blank  wall  represents the
  3. barrier that presently exists between reading  and  computer
  4. use  as  it  exists  TODAY  and as it WILL EXIST in the near
  5. future.  Just as the so-called Sound Barrier proved to be  a
  6. figment  of  human  imagination, so, too, is this mercantile
  7. wall a creation of the mind.

  9.      However,   just   as  Howard  Carter  needed  his  Lord
  10. Carnarvon to help finance his dream of finding the  Tomb  of
  11. King  Tut,  WE  NEED  HELP  to become The First and The Best
  12. Fully Commercial Diskbook Publishers.  WE NEED HELP to break
  13. down that wall.  I believe that there are vast treasures  on
  14. the  other  side  of  that  wall.   Monetary Treasures ?  Of
  15. course !  More important, I  believe  that  there  are  vast
  16. treasures  of the mind and spirit that we may be offering to
  17. the reading and PC-Using  public.   Without  the  staggering
  18. start-up  costs  inherent in paper publishing, we may accept
  19. manuscripts from many more new writers who  might  otherwise
  20. never  be  published.   Acceptance  of manuscripts should be
  21. based on the merit of the manuscript and the talent  of  the
  22. writer rather than "Is this going to be a BlockBuster Hit ?"
